Climate Change Legislation Still Alive Despite Massive Debunking
An increasing number of people are becoming more aware that global warming is a hoax since years worth of e-mail messages from the University of East Anglia's Climate Research Unit were leaked onto the web. Opposition to the global warming theory, and the idea that it is being caused by humanity, continues to grow as the real facts are being reported in some sectors of the mainstream media. Long-time and newly awakened skeptics alike may see this as a victory for free citizens against increasingly tyrannical governments around the world.
Last year New Zealand elected a new government which immediately suspended the country's weeks-old cap-and-trade program. Australia has also rejected similar "cap and trade" legislation due to the lack of science supporting global climate change.
Steve Fielding, a member of the Australian Senate, recently asked the Obama administration to reassure him of the science on man-made global warming. When the administration failed to do so, Mr. Fielding decided to vote against climate change legislation.
Mr. Fielding, a crucial vote on the bill, was so alarmed by the renewed science debate that he made a fact-finding trip to the U.S., attending the Heartland Institute's annual conference for climate skeptics. He also visited with Joseph Aldy, Mr. Obama's special assistant, on energy and the environment where he challenged the Obama team to address his doubts. They apparently did not.
Back in the U. S., Sen. Max Baucus said he had "serious reservations" about the Democrats' climate change bill; Oklahoma Sen. Jim Inhofe now counts more than 700 scientists who disagree with the U.N., 13 times the number who authored the U.N.'s 2007 climate summary for policymakers. There are only 52 supporting UN scientists who authored the media hyped IPCC 2007 Summary for Policymakers.
Save the victory speeches for later as Americans might not be quite out of hot water yet. Apparently 52 lying scientists is enough of an excuse for some congressmen and Obama to remain supportive of climate change legislation. The U.S. House of Representatives passed Climate Change Bill (HR-2454) by a narrow margin in late June 2009. Despite the recent controversy and debunking of global warming, the Boxer-Kerry bill still seems to be in full swing.
Obama has stated he wants to advance a climate bill that has been stalled in the U.S. Senate. Sen. John Kerry (D-MA) makes his intentions clear saying: "We are not scaling back our efforts. We have not changed our goals one bit. We are simply trying to figure out what the magic formula is to be able to get 60 votes but our goal remains exactly what it was before: to price carbon and to create a target for the reduction of emissions that is real. That's the goal."
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said "As you know, the House has passed a comprehensive clean energy and climate bill that does many of these things. I support addressing each of these issues in the Senate's version, and I expect that to happen this spring. We have a lot on our plate. We have to finish reforming health insurance and Wall Street, and also must help bring Americans out of unemployment. But we are not so busy that we can't find the time to address comprehensive energy and climate legislation."
Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) has announced his support; "My goal is to continue working with Senators Kerry, Lieberman and my Senate colleagues to create a new pathway forward that focuses on a more robust energy security package and a more business-friendly climate legislation."
The E.U. is also pursuing similar legislation. The Bilderberg appointed President of the European Council, Herman Van Rompuy, has not been deterred by the recent controversy or public opposition either. "The second important issue to be discussed at our informal meeting is combating climate change. The outcome of the Copenhagen Conference was certainly insufficient. However there are elements which we can build on in order to achieve more positive results in the near future." Rompuy said.
Much like the socialist health care reform still being debated on the hill, climate change legislation is being pursued without regard of the desire of the American people. Unsurprisingly our public servants are not serving in the best interest of the people; instead, they are doing what they want to do in order to further their own agenda.
